Pace Analytical Services, LLC (Pace) has continued its laboratory acquisitions and expansion during the last few months.

Pace Analytical expands in western U.S. with BC Laboratories

In October 2021, Pace  (Minneapolis, Minn.) acquired BC Laboratories Inc. (Bakersfield, Calif.), a provider of environmental analytical services. BC Laboratories serves consultants, businesses, and government agencies on the West Coast through a centralized California-based laboratory supported by five courier service centers. “California has been a leader in the charge for mandated testing for contaminants and hazardous materials – and in providing greater transparency for consumers,” said Greg Whitman, president of Pace. “By expanding our existing footprint in California, we have both the capacity and capabilities to meet this growing demand.” BC Laboratories was founded in 1949 by Joe Eglin, a Chemical Engineer.

Pace Analytical further expands in California with the acquisition of Basic Laboratory, Inc.

Pace announced in early November 2021 that it has acquired Basic Laboratory, Inc., a full-service environmental analytical testing company with locations in northern California further extending its services in the western U.S. Basic Laboratory is a full-service environmental testing and analytical services laboratory, complementing services offered by other Pace laboratories. In addition to Pace, Basic Laboratory is certified by the California Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (CA ELAP). “Pace® Analytical Services offers extensive coverage across California and the west coast, adds Greg Whitman, President of Pace. “By expanding our existing footprint in California, we have both the capacity and capabilities to meet the growing demand for regulatory testing of drinking water, wastewater, metals, soil, and more.” California has been at the forefront of issuing testing requirements disclosing contaminants and hazardous materials exposed to consumers.

Pace Analytical Expands Presence for Legionella Testing and Analytical Services

Pace recently announced that it had acquired Special Pathogens Laboratory, the market leader in Legionella testing, detection, remediation, and prevention. Since its inception in 2007 the company has continued the work of preventing outbreaks and advancing research to end Legionnaires’ disease, a lung infection (pneumonia) caused by a bacterium named Legionella pneumophila found in drinking water. “Special Pathogens Laboratory sets the industry standard for Legionella control and prevention,” states Pace CEO, Eric Roman. Special Pathogens Laboratory provides healthcare, water treatment industries, hotels, and commercial and industrial sectors a comprehensive solution for the prevention and control of Legionella. During the upcoming months, Special Pathogens Laboratory will transition to operating under the Pace brand. Special Pathogens Laboratory has locations in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and New York City, New York and supports customers across the United States.
