Brownfield Redevelopment Kicks Off In Waynesboro, Virginia

Waynesboro Improvement MapThe City of Waynesboro, Virginia, kicked off its Brownfields Redevelopment Planning Project yesterday, June 18, 2013.  The meeting consisted of an introductory presentation by the project team, lead by Environmental Standards’ Phil McKalips, P.G., and included an overview of the work that will be performed over the duration of the project.  Waynesboro was awarded a $400,000 grant from the US EPA last year for the study and redevelopment planning.This meeting will be followed by a series of smaller meetings with property owners, community leaders and other stakeholders over the summer. The planning component will culminate in a week long planning charrette in September 2013. Finally, detailed property redevelopment plans, economic studies, and marketing strategies are expected to be created for key properties over the following 18 months.
