Health and Safety Consulting
Since the Occupational Safety & Health Act of 1970, employers have met with increasing challenges to provide their workers a safe work environment free of recognized hazards. Keeping up with the storm of constantly changing regulations can often be burdensome; the penalties for noncompliance are steep and no one wants to see people go home from work in worse condition than they started.
In order to compete in today’s market, company’s must be nimble. This often requires existing staff to work long hours to gap the boom times. Hiring additional staff is often not an efficient solution.
Environmental Standards EHS provides onsite health and safety professionals to get you back into compliance or over a project hump. Ready to start immediately and armed with full support of Environmental Standards’ health and safety team, our onsite staff will work seamlessly within your organization from inside your building if needed. Conversely, we offer this service as an on call or remote support option as well.
Why us
Program Review and Development
There are safety, health, and environmental regulations required to conduct business in virtually every industry. Many companies have individuals and entire departments that focus primarily on developing and implementing safety programs to meet stringent OSHA requirements.
Environmental Standards’ health and safety professionals have assisted clients throughout the United States to meet and exceed their regulatory requirements. From the initial program draft to implementation and enforcement, our professionals will guide you through the tedious process of compliance. In addition to helping clients meet regulatory compliance, we can also help achieve compliance with voluntary programs such as PICS and ISNetworld. Businesses with comprehensive and enforceable safety programs experience less lost time injuries and fewer workers compensation claims.
IH Monitoring and Sampling
Immediate health and safety concerns are often readily recognizable to employees and professionals alike. Industrial hygiene monitoring and chemical exposure assessments help employers identify the potential long term chronic hazards of a work environment or activity associated with workplace chemicals. With the recent changes to the Silica and Beryllium employee exposure levels, OSHA is signalizing a new focus on chemical safety and more changes are likely on the way. Environmental Standards health and safety professionals are uniquely qualified to identify, monitor, and assess potential workplace chemical hazards; with our health and safety professionals having backgrounds in chemistry and other related science disciplines.
Program Development/Review
One of the more efficient methods for testing the integrity of your health and safety programs is through a third-party audit. From the office to the field, Environmental Standards’ safety auditors will conduct a thorough inspection of your site, focusing on safety hazards that present a real or potential hazard. Questionable behavior can be addressed “on the spot” and a full report, including photos and corrective actions, is typically delivered within 24 hours.
We work with our clients to design a health and safety audit program, to reflect client philosophies, existing standards, or integrate programs with other audit functions. We also review existing audit programs against established audit program requirements to identify gaps or opportunities for improvement. Addressing the key elements for a successful audit program, Environmental Standards’ senior technical EHS professionals ensure that a comprehensive program is developed.
Customized Training
Adults learn largely by doing and will retain more knowledge when the subject matter is interesting and relevant. It sounds like a cliché, but your company really is only as safe as the most unsafe employee. Whether the training is conducted internally or through the services of vendors, the liability is always the employer’s.
Environmental Standards’ health and safety staff will visit your site and review your internal programs, processes, and information provided; and then shape that information into a training program that is specific to your operations. By incorporating relevant material into the program, your employees will be trained on work hazards they actually experience on a daily basis. The information delivered in the classroom is not only interactive and specific to your needs, but is delivered by an instructor with 20 years of training development experience.
Emergency Response Health & Safety Oversight
Transporters, manufacturers, and pharmaceutical companies have something in common; many of their employees take on the role of emergency responders to their own accidents. Safety is never as critical as when your employees are involved in an unforeseen emergency. Environmental Standards provides on-site incident command and third-party oversight to your personnel so they can focus their attention on the issues at hand. Our emergency responders are trained and certified by the NFPA, IAFF, PEMA, and OSHA.
Health and safety is no longer the necessary evil of the 1970s and 1980s. Health and safety is paramount to the success of your company and is a learned behavior embraced by employees. Choose Environmental Standards to take your organization to the highest level of safety.
