Lab News
The mergers & acquisitions (M&A) in the environmental laboratory space has been slow in mid-2024 and is finally picking up. Both Montrose Environmental Group (MEG, Little Rock, Arkansas) and Pace® Analytical Services, LLC (Pace, Minneapolis, Minnesota.) have acquired laboratories to add to their portfolios.
Montrose Environmental Group Acquires Origins Laboratory
MEG announced on September 10, 2024, the acquisition of Origins Laboratory, LLC (Origins) headquartered in Denver, Colorado. Origins is a leading environmental laboratory providing services to the upstream oil and gas industry. Origins will be integrated into the MEG laboratory division, Enthalpy Analytical.
Origins expands MEG’s existing presence and service offerings within the Rocky Mountain region and enhances their ability to support clients in the region with a more integrated and differentiated solution suite.
Origins is an established leader in environmental testing, providing accurate, reliable analytical results with quick turnaround times that include the capability for same-day results. Origins’ ability to provide rapid results allows clients to achieve significant cost savings by facilitating faster remediation efforts that reduce time on site, improving overall project efficiency.
Pace Acquires Agra Environmental and Laboratory Services, Inc. in New Jersey
Pace announced on August 7, 2024, the acquisition of New Jersey-based Agra Environmental and Laboratory Services, Inc. (AELS). Within the last 18 months Pace has added 16 locations in the Northeast, totaling 47 in the region and building the company’s nationwide footprint to 127 laboratories and service centers.
AELS has been supporting New Jersey public water systems with testing and operational support services, ensuring drinking water is safe and wastewater is responsibly managed.
AELS provides a unique offering of laboratory, field testing, and operational support services, both similar and complementary to those offered by Pace.
As we head into the 4th Quarter of 2024, I expect the M&A activity in the environmental laboratory space to heat up, so stay tuned for future issues of Lab News. Please contact David Blye if you have comments on this article.
