Senior Environmental Consulting Chemist
Environmental Standards, Inc., a leader in developing innovative solutions to client environmental liabilities, with offices in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania; Charlottesville, Virginia; and Kingston, Tennessee, has has a senior-level environmental consulting chemist position available at our Virginia office. Since our inception in 1987, we have enjoyed long-term relationships with Fortune 500 companies and continue to provide high-quality environmental consulting services using emerging science and technologies.

This is a unique “ground-floor” opportunity to further develop, implement, and manage the firm’s already successful chemistry consulting practice in our Charlottesville, Virginia office. The ideal candidate will learn and participate in the firm’s existing (Valley Forge, PA and Kingston, TN) chemistry consulting practice, actively solicit new
clients/projects, assist in recruiting, and ultimately participate in the management of the Virginia operations.

Experience:

  • Environmental chemistry consulting
  • Project and technical personnel management
  • Mentoring and senior technical review skills
  • Sales and presentation skills to further develop the firm’s environmental chemistry consulting services client base – a “Seller/Doer”
  • Availability for frequent overnight travel for technical and sales activities
Required qualifications:
  • A minimum of a BS degree in Chemistry
  • 10 – 20 years laboratory and/or environmental consulting chemistry experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of organic, inorganic and/or radionuclide sample preparation and analytical methods of environmental samples
  • Demonstrated environmental chemistry consulting presentation and sales capabilities

Preferred qualifications:

  • A MS or Ph.D. in Chemistry
  • Experience in reviewing and validating US EPA organic and inorganic analytical data as an independent consultant
  • Experience in conducting on-site audits of commercial environmental laboratories – knowledge of NELAC requirements is a plus
  • Broad familiarity with quality assurance project plan preparation
  • An existing environmental chemistry consulting client base
  • Experience with environmental chemistry forensics and fingerprinting techniques
  • Litigation (support and testimony) experience
